Shelter, Camp Coordination.
Thanks to your support, we're building new villages inside Syria so that displaced families can live with dignity and security.
Shelter
Building on our work since 2012 in Syria, we understand the critical issues that stem from a lack of shelter and work to integrate these lessons into other areas of our operation where they may apply. Worldwide, with over 60 million people considered to be internally displaced, innovative work needs to be carried out to find lasting solutions to this runaway problem.
As we settle in to the new-normal of climate change, communities with the lowest environmental impact will begin to feel the harshest effects of the devastation. This is only made worse by the lack of sufficient shelter and long-term housing solutions.
Camp Coordination
Millions live in tents, fragile shelters or sleeping on the floors of bombed out buildings like schools and mosques. These shelters lack proper bathing and cooking facilities, they have insufficient space and they provide no protection. They lack dignity. They are temporary shelters, they are not homes. Each winter extreme flooding in Syria causes damage to tents forcing families to flee their shelters once again, damaging what little property they have left. By partnering with us on our shelter work in Syria, and beyond, you’ll be more than building a home, you’ll be building hope.
